Symphonic Chorus
The Symphonic Chorus is the largest ensemble of the Chorus of Westerly. This auditioned ensemble is comprised of nearly 200 singers ages 8-80+ and has performed over 700 concerts to audiences around the world. Learn about the history of the Chorus here.
Program Information & Expectations
The Chorus of Westerly performs at highest levels of artistic excellence and therefore requires a strong level of commitment from its singers - both children and adults. Singers are required to commit to the entire performance season. That includes attendance at weekly rehearsals, mandatory attendance at performance week and weekend rehearsals, singing ALL the performances on the Chorus of Westerly's regular season, and paying annual membership dues.
Adult Rehearsals:
Tuesdays 7:30-9:45 pm
September 2022 - June 2023
*Children's Rehearsals:
Every child singer in the Chorus receives at least two hours of rehearsal per week. Singers practice repertoire and develop musicianship skills that prepare them to be independent and confident musicians. Depending on age and musical experience, children are placed into one of four ensembles in the Children's Program (Junior Choristers, Trebles, Full Choristers). Rehearsals take place after school and early evening on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. These rehearsals are separate from the adult rehearsals on Tuesday nights.
*Not included in this schedule are required orchestra rehearsals closer to performances, parents will be given this information ahead of time.
Annual Membership Dues: $260 (scholarships may be available upon request).
